There’s been a lot of debate over time about the role of Aromatase Inhibitors (AIs) in TRT protocols.
Historically, AIs were often overused— prescribed almost automatically to block estrogen conversion without assessing if it was truly necessary.
Why…who knows?
This led to issues like estrogen suppression, joint pain, and negative impacts on cardiovascular health.
Now, we’re seeing the opposite problem: some doctors avoid using AIs altogether, even when they're actually needed.
Why…once again, who knows?
I mean, AIs are a tool, and the best doctors know how and when to use their tools.
It seems too many providers these days have tools yet don’t really seem to know how or when to use them.
Estrogen balance is crucial for men on TRT, and ignoring high levels can lead to water retention, mood swings, and gynecomastia.
TRT is not a one-size-fits-all solution….and AIs are sometimes needed.
They should be used based on individual lab results and symptoms, not routine protocol.
Doctors need to strike a balance, ensuring patients aren’t over-suppressed or left with unchecked estrogen.
The key to a successful TRT experience is monitoring, personalization, and adjusting protocols as needed.
